Gold Coast Beach Trip, Safety Information.
I have seen people blister on a cloudy day. Seriously consider protecting yourself from the powerful Australian sunlight when you are out & about by wear long sleeved t-shirts, buy a hat straight away.
Great Australian beach tips. For a hot day on the beach, take some shoes, because when it is hot, the sand can really hurt, oh yes. Cover your feet properly, some beaches maybe a 200 meter plus walk, OUCH! Little tents are becoming more popular, specifically designed for the beach. Besides a tent or a towel don't bring that what you can't take into the water (you may need a pouch), that includes the car park.
For your safety, Australia's main beaches are patrolled by lifesavers, and "flags" are used to designate safe swimming areas for the public. The current or "rip" can sometimes travel much faster than you or I could dream of swimming. Always choose a beach with flags, over a beach without flags. If there are no flags or lifesavers, & you have to go in, be careful, get advice from more than one local you trust.
The "rip" is a strong current of water that travels away from the beach & can run for up to, more than a kilometer away !
The flies can really annoy you, so get a piece of rope and flick it over your shoulder, while also watching out for others around you (their eyes).
Hiking trip information. Don't go hiking without properly preparing. Water is an essential in the Australian bush & beach, heck you may even stumble on a thirsty Koala (during the Victorian bush fire season, fire fighters stumbled upon a desperate Koala in need of water ), nothing could s surprise me now !
Let someone know where you plan to go, & what your next option might be if your plans change,
(plan B) in case you change your mind.

Golden Rules when driving in Australia and the Gold Coast.
Always carry spare water! When traveling away from populated areas, check on the weather conditions, and forecast. Check the condition and pressure of your tires, including your spare tire. Practice changing your tire with somebody who knows how to. Be alert, there are many large animals in Australia such as Kangaroos, Wombats, and Emu's that can cause serious damage to your car or RV if you collide with them.
To help avoid a collision you should keep in mind a number of things. Firstly Kangaroos are most active at sun up and sun down, Wombats and Koalas are most active at night, and Emus are most active during the day. When driving through bushland areas or areas where there is a water supply (rivers, creeks, etc) always use extra caution, especially around dusk and dawn, Secondly if you see a group of skid marks, in the same spot on a road, you may assume that this is a popular spot for animals to cross, so slow down. Thirdly, at night your headlights on high beam may blind an animal in your path, so lower your beam (as you would an oncoming car), and slow down.
